Custom Alert on SOAP 1.0 Patient Chart

Let's review how to add custom messages on the patient chart. These will be available for the front desk reference when the patient comes for treatment and for the therapist as they complete their documentation.

There are two ways to display messages on the SOAP 1.0 Patient Chart.

  1. Additional Info (Case-specific)
  2. Payer Alert (Insurance-specific)

Additional Info (Patient Case)

Use the Additional Info box on the patient's case to add in custom alerts.

  1. Navigate to Patient Info and click on the Edit Case icon. You’ll see the Additional Info box.
  2. This is a free text box where you can record your messages which will display on the patient chart like below.
  3. The Additional Info box is case-specific, not patient-specific. So, if you have multiple cases for the patient and you want your message to display on all cases, you'll need to add the same message into the Additional Info section of each case.
  4. Information added in the Additional Info box is not captured on any reports within the WebPT EMR or Analytics.
Additional Info: Advanced Customization

If you want to make your custom alert stand out, you can update the size and color using standard HTML formatting. Note: WebPT Support cannot provide help with custom HTML formatting.

Use the following sample formatting to update the color of your message: <h1 style="color: #8B0000;">ENTER YOUR TEXT</h1>

  • ENTER YOUR TEXT:  Replace these words with your custom message
  • #8B0000: This is the color hex code. Enter your own hex code, or find one online.

This is how it’ll look on the Patient Record Page.

Payer Alerts

Payer alerts allow you to enter key insurance information when adding or editing an insurance record. These alerts populate on patient appointments, within the patient chart, and on the Charge Summary. These are only notifications and will not prevent a user from taking actions that contradict the alert information. For more information on how to set up a payer alert and its use, please refer to  this guide.
