What?
The Days to Finalization report provides insight into:
- The percentage of notes finalized within specific time intervals
- An average of how many notes are finalized for each Date of Service
- Possible billing delays caused by delays in note finalization
We recommend that the number of days to finalization should be no more than 1 day. The number of days to finalization is calculated based on the Date of Service on the SOAP note and the date the SOAP is finalized.
Note: This report currently does not include SOAP 2.0 data.
Why?
It is crucial to monitor this report because delays in finalization may cause delays in other areas such as billing for provided services.
For example, if a therapist finalizes a note 2 or 3 days after the Date of Service, your clinic will be unable to bill for the visit in a timely manner.
How Often?
We recommend checking your Days to Finalization report on a weekly basis to avoid billing delays caused by delays in note finalization.
Where?
- Select Analytics from the EMR dashboard.
- Select Days to Finalization in the Notes section of Reports in Analytics.
- Utilize the View Clinics By, Date Range, View Data By, and Display Work Week fields for enhanced filtering.
- We recommend flagging notes in the 2 and 3+ columns. Delayed note finalizations can impact your clinic’s ability to bill on time.
