Analysis Grids: Reporting Functions

Analysis grids contain the root data that drives all metrics in the Analytics portal. By design, you can manipulate these reports to locate specific data points. To do this, you can use the Gear icon or the Column Headers, depending on your preference.

Reporting Functions

This table details which functions are available for your use. Click here for more information on Filters.

Option Function
Sort A-Z Sort in ascending order. Dates will sort from oldest to newest.
Sort Z-A Sort in descending order. Dates will sort from newest to oldest.
Filter Choose comparison criteria (a separate box will drop down from the filter menu in the heading). You can apply multiple filters at once and adjust the rules to prioritize one type of criteria over another.
Group Group all data using the table header field. You can continue to group by each heading until you’ve exhausted all data points.
Aggregate Use a function or calculation (e.g. sum, average, standard deviation, count, distinct count, maximum, minimum). The available Functions are dependent on the type of data in the column. For date fields, you can group by day, month, quarter, and year.
Format Change the alignment and apply or unapply predetermined data templates
Hide Column Hide the data column to focus on other information. You can also hide or show columns by clicking the gear icon in the upper-left area of the page.

Column Headers organize the data in the report. Clicking on a column header allows you to organize the report view to your preference. Use the Sort, Filter, Group, Aggregate, Format, and Hide columns to present your report in a different way.

You can also drag columns to a different position in the report.

Helpful Hints

Depending on the amount of data returned on your report and how you would like to view it, you may find ithelpful to change the page view to Show All Rows on a Single Page.

Another display-focused feature is Exclude Detail Row, which allows you to exclude all detail rows when grouping data, showing only the totals. We find that this is often helpful when exporting calculated values.

Exporting Data

Finally, you can easily export data in Excel, CSV, or PDF format. If you export in a PDF format, the page will open directly in your Analytics window. (To navigate back to the data, use your browser’s back button). Select the download icon to export your filtered report.
